This article explores the relationship between historiography and panegyric in Late Antiquity. Libanius' oration were borrowed, often verbatim, by Nikolaos Mesarites in his description of the Church of the Holy Apostles at Constantinople, written at some time between A.D. 1198 and 1203. Constantius II (Latin: Flavius Julius Constantius Augustus; 7 August 317 – 3 November 361) was Roman Emperor from 337 to 361.
