The Miles Franklin Literary Award is an annual literary prize awarded to "a novel which is of the highest literary merit and presents Australian life in any of its phases". Richard Neville, Mitchell Librarian of the State Library of NSW and head of the Award judging panel, says: “This year’s Miles Franklin longlist is a mix of established and newer Australian authors.
The Award celebrates novels of the highest literary merit that tell stories about Australian life.
