Carl Hiaasen, author and brother of Capital Gazette shooting victim Rob Hiaasen, says that his brother was proud of the work he had done with his coworkers at the newspaper. Rob Hiaasen was a resident of Timonium, Maryland. On June 28, 2018, Hiaasen, was one of five people who were shot and killed during the Capital Gazette shooting. He grew up in the Fort Lauderdale area, and is the brother of novelist Carl Hiaasen.
